Algo que me ha sorprendido en NY es la entrega y devoción de la gente por Obama. Al principio veía muchas camisetas que vendían en “tenderetes” de la calle y algunos escritos en las paredes. La cosa fue increscento, así que al final decidí ir fotografiando cada curiosidad que encontraba sobre “el moreno” (como dijo un colombiano que conocí).
Definitivamente esta por todas partes, camisetas para mayores y bebes…
…escritos en las paredes, posters en todas partes.
Fui a una exposición en la galaería Toy Tokyo (East Village), donde los artistas se recrearon con las figuras de Obama de formas muy originales. Lo que ganaban vendiendo las figuras, camisetas y otros productos de merchandising, lo donaban a la campaña de Obama.
Mucha gente lleva las chapas, entre ellas mi profesora de ingles, Judy, que me explicó lo importante que es que Obama gane y haya un cambio en la política estadounidense. Ella me presento a Jesús, es un artista que ha pintado el retrato de “el moreno” en su medio de trabajo, no se lo permitieron, pero el explica que el necesita expresarse y esa es una forma mas de apoyar el deseado cambio.
En NY siempre ganan los demócratas, la gente dice que si eres de NY no hace falta que vayas a votar por que van a ganar los demócratas seguro. En el resto de Estados Unidos no se si la entrega ha sido tan fuerte como aquí. Pero desde luego no imagino lo mismo en España…
Algo realmente difícil de encontrar, y diría imposible, en NY, es a alguien que demuestre su apoyo a McCain o a Sarah Palin, también conocida como “hockey mom“, lo único que he encontrado es esta imagen:
Fascinante la entrega de los artistas hacia Obama, ha inspirado a mucha gente a crear y a reinvidicarse, os dejo con un vídeo y una pregunta: ¿Quién creeis que ganará? o mejor dicho ¿quien quereis que gane?.

Something that really has surprised me in NY is the devotion of the people to Obama. At the beggining I saw a lot of t-shirts that were sold on the street shops and some writtens on the walls. But this was growing, so I decided to take pictures of every curiosity of “el moreno” (as a colombian guy that I met told me).

I went to see an exhibition at Toy Tokyo gallery, where different artists entertain painting very original Obama figures. All what they earn of the solds of the figures, t-shirts and other merchandising products, wherw donated to Obama’s Campaign. (image)
A lot of people wears pins, one is my English teacher, Judyh, who explained me the importance of Obama as President and the importance of a needed change inthe United States politics. She introduced me Jesus, he’s an artist who has painted the portrait of “el moreno” in his means of work, someone denied him, but he explains that he needs to express what he feels and this is one more way to support the wished change. In NY always the democratics win, the people say that if you are from NY you don’t need to go to vote because the democratics are going to win for sure. On the rest of the United States I don’t know if the devotion it’s so strong like in this city. But for sure, I can’t imagine the same in Spain…

It`s fascinanting the devotion of the artist people, it has inspired to create and to claim. I let you with a fantastic video and one question: Who do you guess is going to win? or maybe better, Who do you wish to win?
